Celebrating the one and only one universal God, “The Cosmic Renovation & End of Time” is a massive, maximinimal exploration of Kosmische Musik, deeply rooted in Zoroastrian theory and Zarathustrian philosophy. The Compact Cassette features two thirty minute songs, both titled in Avestan – the liturgical language of the Zoroastrian religion.

The Cosmic Serpent has previously released “Aural Mandalas Volume One: Coiled on the Universal Ocean” on Moptaco Dics.

Det har snackats mycket om The Cosmic Serpent i vissa kassettkretsar; artistens (eller artisternas) identitet är fortfarande höljt i dunkel, och den kosmiska ormen verkar vilja fortsätta vara anonym. Många kanske tycker det här är fånigt – men i Cosmic Serpents fall blir det dock en styrka. Den mystiska, något ockulta aura som omger musiken djupnar. Det är nästan som att de hypnotiska syntharna, de svagt hamrande trummorna och den smått religiösa rymdestetiken hade frammanats ur kosmos självt; som att kassetten var en uråldrig artefakt, en relik från Pangea, mottagen i en främmande rymdkapsel och skeppad till denna värld i Noaks ark. Detta stämmer förstås inte; så låt er inte luras. I själva verket är detta en trevlig kassett med kosmische nachtmusik släppt på det fina göteborgsbolaget Fang Bomb.

Despite the heroic cover of deep mystical proportions and its apocalyptictitle, this music is not the agitated talking-in-tongues babel of the true seer, nor does it issue strict warnings about the imminent end of the world. Instead, very restrained and windy elecronic ambient tones waft from the inner deserts that comprises the mind of its gifted creator, gradually evolving into slow and awesome minimal tunes that pay homage to the electronic Kosmische musiks of Cluster, Popol Vuh's first album, and Klaus Schultze.

Leaving us in no doubt as to the obscure religious convictions of The Cosmic Serpent, the track titles here are given in Avestan, the lithurgical language of the Zoroastrian religion. The B side may have a slightly higher quotient of melody and incident, and it's limpidly beautiful, but I still like the serene and lonely stillness of the A side.

This label makes very high quality cassette packages, and this is no exception. 50 copies.
